“The world’s most popular mobile Web browser with over 20 million users”, Opera Mini is out with a beta version 4.2. This beta installs next to any existing stable Opera Mini version on your device and will not overwrite any of your data.
One of the new features (actually not so new) is the re-introduction of [...]

State of the Mobile Web in Nigeria

By Oluyomi Adegboye • Nov 7th, 2008 • Category: Features and Articles, News

As far back as 2006, the BBC had reported that in July of that year, 61% of its international traffic from mobile devices (a whopping 13.2 million page views in one month alone) was from Nigeria. At that time, I presented that as evidence to convince those who maintained that Nigerians do not use their [...]

Starcomms claims 2m subscribers

By Oluyomi Adegboye • Nov 1st, 2008 • Category: News

CDMA mobile network, Starcomms, sent round an SMS thanking its subscribers for making them “the First CDMA network in Nigeria to cross 2 Million happy subscribers”.

By Oluyomi Adegboye • Oct 20th, 2008 • Category: Features and Articles, News

The following video seems authentic enough. But, who knows?
In this video, a 15-year old Norwegian demonstrates a programme he has written to make it possible to dual-boot his iPhone to run either of OSX or Windows Mobile. If this is for real, I wonder what Mr. Steve Jobs would have to say about it.

By Oluyomi Adegboye • Oct 15th, 2008 • Category: News

Weeks ago, MobilityNigeria.com reported that with Celtel Nigeria’s rebranding to Zain, the mobile operator stated that WAP over GPRS service was restricted to post-paid subscribers only. That statement is still on the Zain Nigeria website.
But the reality on ground is that for whatever reason, prepaid lines are still being activated for WAP over GPRS and [...]
