MTN Data Modem now N8,500
MTN has reviewed the cost of their 3G USB modems down to N8,500. All bundle packages still cost the same though, but if you have been wanting an MTN USB modem, this is a good time to get it.

(with a whistle raised to my mouth) LET THE COMPETITION BEGIN! -pppppppppphhhhheeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let the competition begin. With this I know all the network will now start reducing their cost. I used glo prepaid and it was fantastic, I am presently using etisalat and it is still fantastic. i currently disabled the images on both firefox and opera to conserve my bandwidth, and I am using my N70 Nokia phone as a modem.
If you google check the price of data cards (modems) you will be surprised that those sticks cost less than $70. These networks are just feeding fat from us. Well if MTN like let them sell it for N3000, I will never buy an MTN modem, I never enjoyed their service for more than one week out of the more than five months I used them. My advise to everybody in the house “STAY AWAY FROM MTN DATA SERVICE”.
is their usb modem unlocked? can it b used with other networks?
There is no compelling reason to buy a Branded USB Modem. The possible advantage is that the branded ones (whether MTN or not) come preconfigured. Configuring any generic modem is child’s play. In the final analysis, a USB Modem is a USB Modem is a USB Modem is a..
It is like buying Emzor Paracetamol instead of any other generic painkiller. You just pay for the ‘name’. The choice is yours..
Branded modems can always be unlocked. It’s all about knowing how to unlock them. I finished my 3GB quota with GLO and I’m using MTN now and it’s EXCRUCIATINGLY SLOW though I managed to download as much as 625MB last nite from 10pm to 5am today.
Why did’t they do this last month when i bought mine, i feel cheated! MTN has done it again, they have finished me. The only way they can make me happy is to introduce a 500 Naira 3 Gig a month bundle
Now with whistle sounded, the realistic tactic will be the reduction in data tariff. Reducing modem cost is cosmetic if you ask me. Someone said modem costs 70 dollars. At N150 to the dollar its cost abroad is over 10,000 naira.
I reckon some real competition may commence in 2011 when Main One cable company would have hooked providers who may have, by then, exhausted long term contracts with their existing bandwidth providers. Interesting months are up ahead.
Let them sell for N5,000 I wouldn’t buy because it it locked. I still prefer this unlocked modem. N12,000 http://www.nairalist.com/lagos/forsale/2571
my people, na them know, As far as i am concerned i am not buying anything data cable because ever since i’ve not seen the value, plz my brothers what is the difference in pouring money into a well water. Abeg make they hold am!
Glo modem now N8500. I called glo this morning and the call attendant told me that glo modem is now N8500. Na wah, let the competition hot up.
Please is Glo modem realy sold for 8500
Yes glo modem is 8,500
i have an Mtn fastlink sim card modem. i want to unlock it, how do i go about it. chao
@Bright: Send me the IMEI number and the model of your USB Modem and I’ll send you the unlock code FREE!
Some folks are against the unblocking of modems BUT I beg to differ. No network in Nigeria is 100% reliable and there will be days when you wouldn’t be able to browse @ all ’cause of network issues. Having the possibility to quickly switch to another network without spending money on yet another modem is then necessary.
Did I mention that the goats don’t even carry over your remaining bandwidth for time lost due to their own problems?
@Udegbunam Chukwudi
Please help me unlock my mtn modem, this is the imei number 35 71 33 03 73 47 604
model E156G
@Esedadon: YOUR UNLOCK CODE SHOULD BE 37334682
Simply insert the SIM of a different network into the
modem then plug it into your computer. A pop up will appear asking for
the unlock code. Enter the unlock code then wait a few seconds. Once
the modem is unlocked, the network of the SIM inside the modem will
show @ the bottom left of the dashboard.
If the modem doesn’t unlock, stop trying that code and let me know.
You’ve only got 10 chances to unlock a modem. After that the modem
will stay locked 4 life to the network that sold it to you.
Cheers
